The Most Common Make-Up Mistakes in Beginners

As teens kick off their beauty & makeup routines, it's easy to dive right in and making some pretty common mistakes. There are so many different products, techniques, and approaches to makeup. Across the board these are some of the most common mistakes made by women of all ages, but especially teens. Keep scrolling to learn how to avoid these next time you or your teen starts their makeup routine.

Not Prepping Your Skin

It's quite common to think your makeup routine starts with the first beauty product you put on your face, but to ensure the best end product, it's important to take care of your skin before you apply makeup. We suggest cleansing, using a toner, and moisturizing right before you start your makeup. This will ensure that your face is plump and hydrated and allow your makeup to show up more evenly.

Too Much Bronzer

We all do it, especially during the summer when we want to add more of a sunkissed look. But more often than not, adding more bronzer to your face will make you end up looking orange. When applying bronzer it’s important to only put it in the areas when the sun would usually hit your face. We like the say to apply it on your face in the shape of the number three.  Along your hairlike, across the tops of your cheek bones, and lightly along your jawline.

Heavy Bottom Mascara

Mascara is a great way to make your eyes look bigger and really pop. We take a lot of time applying mascara to our top lashes, making sure it brushes evenly across our lashes and doesn’t clump, but you don’t want to spend the same amount of time on your bottom lashes. One light coat on the bottom should be just enough to give them a little color. When you apply too much, it will draw attention to any impurities or dark circles you might have under your eyes.

Using Too Much Concealer

We all use concealer as a way to cover up spots or dark circles, but it’s very easy for it to go too far. Especially under your eyes. Applying too much concealer under your eyes can end up making you look like a raccoon, and if it’s applied to thick then it will crack or look cakey. Make sure you get the right shade, apply it sparingly, and blend it in fully for the best end result.
